Skyborn Renewables (offshore wind power company) has completed the acquisition of 100% of the shares in the Nordergründe offshore wind farm in Germany, the Hamburg-based company announced on June 29, 2026, becoming the sole owner of an asset in which it previously held only a minority stake.

From Minority Stake to Full Control

Prior to the transaction, Skyborn owned 30% of Nordergründe's shares, with the remaining 70% held by other investors. The completion of this deal brings the entire asset under Skyborn's ownership and operational authority.

The company said full ownership gives it direct control over the optimisation and long-term management of the wind farm at a point when the project is entering a phase that requires streamlined decision-making and targeted investments to maximise performance.

Commissioned in 2017 and located in the German North Sea, Nordergründe has a total installed capacity of 111 MW, generated by 18 turbines. The project produces enough renewable electricity to supply approximately 90,000 households.

Skyborn noted that Nordergründe has been a long-standing part of its portfolio and played a central role in the company's history during its development phase. The company also acted as construction manager for the project and has remained closely involved throughout its lifecycle.

Part of a Wider Infrastructure Platform Strategy

Skyborn described the acquisition as a strategic step aligned with what it calls its integrated infrastructure platform model, which is built around developing, building, owning and operating offshore wind assets across their full lifecycle.

The company said it covers the entire offshore wind value chain, including greenfield development, project engineering and design, procurement, financing, corporate power purchase agreements, construction management and asset management.

Patrick Lammers, Chief Executive Officer of Skyborn Renewables, said the transaction is fully aligned with the company's strategy to be a leading offshore wind infrastructure platform.

"Taking full ownership of Nordergründe allows us to apply our integrated approach to optimise performance and create long-term value," Lammers said. "Following the successful turnaround of Yunlin and the progress of Gennaker, Nordergründe marks our next step, demonstrating our ability not only to deliver projects, but to enhance and operate them sustainably over time."

Nordergründe as an Operational Turnaround Case

Skyborn positioned the Nordergründe acquisition specifically as an operational turnaround, distinguishing it from two other recent milestones it cited in the same announcement.

The company described the Yunlin project in Taiwan as a financial turnaround and the Gennaker project in Germany as a development turnaround. In that framing, Nordergründe represents the third pillar of what Skyborn characterised as its evolution as an end-to-end offshore wind platform.

The progressive internalisation of key operational capabilities is among the steps Skyborn said it plans to pursue following the full acquisition, with the aim of managing the asset with greater flexibility and efficiency over the long term.

Long-Term Service Contract Signed with Wind Multiplikator

Earlier in June 2026, Skyborn signed a long-term integrated service contract with Wind Multiplikator for the Nordergründe offshore wind farm. The company said this contract is designed to support the long-term operation and maintenance of the project and consolidate operations under a unified framework. According to Skyborn, this setup is intended to enhance efficiency and ensure sustained asset performance over time.

The signing of the service contract and the completion of the ownership acquisition together represent two related moves that Skyborn said reinforce its approach to managing mature assets through a consolidated operational structure.
