Sydney-based hydrogen technology company Siltrax has announced the commercial launch of its C2 Series, an air-cooled hydrogen fuel cell platform delivering between 2 and 6 kilowatts of power.
The product is aimed at commercial and industrial unmanned aerial vehicles, portable power systems, and off-grid energy applications where operators face mounting pressure to extend operational range without adding weight or mechanical complexity.
The C2 Series is commercially available, with customer integration programs and partner demonstrations already underway across the Asia-Pacific region. Siltrax plans to showcase the platform at the Hydrogen Technology World Expo at Hamburg Messe in Germany from 20 to 22 October 2026.
A Response to Battery Limitations in Commercial UAV Operations
Siltrax positioned the C2 Series as a direct answer to challenges being encountered by operators deploying commercial and industrial UAVs for logistics, infrastructure inspection, agriculture, and other demanding use cases. As flight-duration and payload requirements have increased, many operators have run into the practical limitations of battery-electric propulsion systems, according to the company.
Daniel Zafir, Director of Business Development and Global Partnerships at Siltrax, said customers are asking for longer operating times and greater payload capacity without adding unnecessary weight and complexity. He described the C2 as bringing together the company's silicon bipolar-plate technology and a purpose-built air-cooled architecture to deliver a simplified fuel cell system platform for those applications.
Beyond UAV propulsion, Siltrax said the C2 Series can serve portable and off-grid power applications where conventional liquid-cooled fuel cell systems introduce weight and maintenance burdens that are impractical in field conditions. The company cited remote power, mobile generators, and autonomous systems as target use cases.
Three Design Principles Behind the C2 Architecture
Siltrax described the C2 Series as being built around three principal design elements that together differentiate it from conventional air-cooled fuel cell systems.
The first is air-cooled operation. Dedicated fans move ambient air through the stack's cooling channels, eliminating the need for a separate liquid-cooling circuit along with its associated pumps, coolant, plumbing, and control systems.
The second is a closed-cathode architecture, which the company described as a departure from conventional open-cathode air-cooled stacks. In the C2 design, the cooling airflow is separated from the cathode reactant-air supply.
Oxygen is channelled through the stack independently, allowing its flow, pressure, and filtration to be managed separately and shielded from external air pollutants. Siltrax said this approach increases both the performance and durability of the overall system.
The third element is dead-end anode operation. This architecture supports efficient hydrogen utilisation while eliminating the need for a continuously operating hydrogen-recirculation circuit, which the company said further reduces balance-of-plant weight and complexity.
These three elements are combined with Siltrax's proprietary silicon bipolar plates, which the company said enable a compact platform designed to balance performance, power density, and durability without the complexity of a liquid-cooled system.

Performance Specifications and Scalability
The C2 Series supports power outputs from 2 kW to 6 kW. Siltrax has defined a 3 kW reference architecture as a starting point for customer evaluation and application integration.
The company noted that C2 Series modules can be operated in parallel, allowing combined power outputs of up to 24 kW for applications requiring higher capacity. The rated power for the platform is listed at 3.6 kW, with a gravimetric power density exceeding 1.5 kW per kilogram.
The system is rated for ambient temperatures ranging from negative 20 degrees Celsius to 40 degrees Celsius.
Silicon Bipolar Plate Technology at the Core
Siltrax described itself as a hydrogen technology company specialising in silicon-based PEM fuel cells and electrolyzers, and said its work builds on 40 years of silicon expertise. The proprietary silicon bipolar plate technology is central to the company's approach and is applied across its product lines for transportation, distributed power, material handling, and other applications.
The company is headquartered in Sydney, Australia, and has recently established a presence across the Americas following a commercialization initiative in that region announced earlier in September 2026. The C2 Series launch follows that U.S. market entry as Siltrax expands its commercial presence and customer partnerships across the Americas.
Market Timing and Regional Rollout
The C2 launch comes as the commercial UAV sector continues to push against the energy density constraints of battery technology. Siltrax did not disclose specific customer names involved in the integration programs and demonstrations currently underway in the Asia-Pacific region, but said those programs are already active.
Siltrax will be exhibiting the C2 Series at Stand 7F30-5 at the Hydrogen Technology World Expo in Hamburg, which runs from 20 to 22 October 2026. The company is accepting inquiries for product specifications and evaluation opportunities through its commercial contact channels.
Asia-Pacific's Hydrogen Economy Is Moving Fast! Is Your Intelligence Keeping Up?
