The Solar Energy Corporation of India has invited bids to set up 1,500 MW of inter-state transmission system-connected solar power projects in India under Tranche XIV. The last date to submit bids is February 23, 2024. The bids will be opened on February 28.
The applicants have to submit a bid document fee of USD 354. And a bid processing fee of USD 6014. The bidders also have to furnish an earnest money deposit of USD 11,162. The successful bidder is responsible for connecting the solar projects to the ISTS and establishing the transmission network to the interconnection/delivery point.
The duties of the project developer encompass several key areas: locating appropriate land, overseeing the installation process, maintaining ownership of the project, and ensuring connectivity and the necessary authorizations for interconnection with the state transmission utility (STU), intra-state transmission system (InSTS), or ISTS network, whichever is applicable, to provide power to SECI.
ISTS stands for Inter-State Transmission System, which is a network of high-voltage power lines that connect electricity grids across different states in India. They enable surplus power generated in one state to be transmitted to deficit states, ensuring equitable distribution of electricity across the country.
ISTS involves Integrating large-scale renewable energy projects into the grid requires robust transmission infrastructure. ISTS projects play a key role in connecting renewable energy sources like solar and wind farms to distribution centers.
