A Joint Venture of Saudi Arabian oil giant Aramco and French energy company TotalEnergies has been awarded an EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) contract worth USD 11 Billion for developing the full-conversion refinery complex at Jubail, Saudi Arabia.
As per sources, both oil companies have reached FID (Final Investment Decision) stage. The FID was signed at Dhahran in the presence of Amin H Nasser and Patrick Pouyanné, CEOs of Aramco and TotalEnergies respectively.
The contract is specifically for expanding the Amiral complex which is believed to be a future world-scale petrochemical facility located at the SATORP (Saudi Aramco Total Refining and Petrochemical Co.) refinery in Saudi Arabia.
With a capacity to produce 1,650 kilotons per annum of ethylene and other industrial gases, the new complex will house one of the largest mixed-load steam crackers in the Gulf region.
