The award of this important project further consolidates Saipem’s positioning in Angola, both in deep and shallow waters, by providing innovative and efficient solutions to reduce installation times.

Scope of Work

Saipem’s scope of work entails the engineering, fabrication, transportation, and installation of approximately 60 km of rigid pipelines and subsea facilities at a depth of around 1,100 meters, as well as the transportation and installation of flexible flowlines, jumpers, and 17 km of umbilicals. Fabrication activities will be executed at Saipem’s Ambriz yard in Angola. For the offshore installation campaign, Saipem expects to deploy its FDS vessel for the transportation and laying activities of the rigid pipelines.

Location and Discovery

The Ndungu Field is within Block 15/06, approximately 130km off the coast. The block, with an acreage of 2,984 square kilometers, is located in water depths ranging from 300m to 1,800m. The field was discovered in May 2019 when Eni announced a light oil discovery in the Ndungu exploration prospect. The discovery well, Ndungu-1, was drilled in a water depth of 1,076m and reached a total depth of 405m.

Reserves and Production

The Ndungu field was initially estimated to contain 250 million barrels of light oil after its discovery. However, subsequent appraisal activities led to a significant upgrade to the discovery's resource base. Preliminary data indicates that the field contains around 1 billion barrels of oil equivalent. The project is expected to produce in the range of 20,000 barrels of oil per day (bopd), which will sustain the plateau of the Ngoma floating production storage and offloading (FPSO) vessel.
