China-based solar manufacturer Risen Energy has entered into two strategic memoranda of understanding with Ukrainian energy company Ascania Energy to develop solar generation and battery storage projects in Ukraine, the companies announced on August 18, 2026.

The cooperation framework covers installations of up to 100 megawatts of solar capacity and 200 megawatt-hours of utility-scale battery energy storage.

Partnership Structure and Signatories

The MoUs were signed by Jerry Qin, President, Europe, at Risen Energy, and Yevhen Piatko, CEO and Co-Owner of Ascania Energy. Yehor Yarmolenko, Chief Technology Officer of Ascania Energy, also attended the signing ceremony.

The agreements establish a framework for cooperation that extends beyond hardware supply into project development, engineering training, after-sales service, and technical capacity building.

The partnership is framed around Ukraine's current demand for new-generation capacity, decentralized energy infrastructure, and flexible solutions aimed at strengthening power reliability.

According to the announcement, solar-plus-storage configurations can add distributed capacity, improve renewable energy integration, shift electricity use, and support businesses during periods of grid constraint.

Ascania Energy's Position in Ukraine

Ascania Energy operates across multiple segments of Ukraine's energy value chain, spanning project development, engineering and EPC contracting, system integration, energy management, trading, and direct energy supply to customers.

The company is part of Ascania Group, which the announcement describes as having 30 years of business experience. This breadth of in-country capability is central to the logic of the partnership, with Ascania Energy providing local execution infrastructure and access to business customers while Risen Energy contributes technology and manufacturing capacity.

Risen Energy's Track Record and Product Portfolio

Risen Energy positions itself as a vertically integrated supplier, offering photovoltaic modules, energy storage systems, inverters, and intelligent energy management products backed by in-house research and development, manufacturing, and quality assurance operations.

As of the second quarter of 2026, the company reported cumulative PV module shipments exceeding 121.4 gigawatts and battery energy storage system deliveries surpassing 10 gigawatt-hours, with operations spanning more than 90 countries and regions.

In Ukraine specifically, Risen Energy has prior experience supplying modules to 12 solar projects. Among these is the 323 MW Pokrovskaya Solar Power Plant, which the company cites as having provided experience in product adaptation, delivery, and local service operations within the Ukrainian market. The company states this existing footprint supports the expansion into utility-scale, commercial and industrial, and solar-plus-storage applications.

Technology Highlighted in Cooperation Discussions

On August 13, 2026, a delegation from Ascania Energy visited Risen Energy's intelligent manufacturing facility to review its production, testing and quality management capabilities across both PV and energy storage product lines. Discussions during the visit focused on two specific product offerings from Risen Energy's portfolio.

The first was the Hyper-ion Pro heterojunction module, which Risen Energy describes as being designed for high power output, efficiency and lifetime energy yield.

The second was the eTron liquid-cooled energy storage system, which the company characterizes as integrating thermal management, multilayer safety protection, and intelligent control functionality, targeted at utility-scale applications.

Scope of Ongoing Cooperation

Beyond the immediate project development targets outlined in the MoUs, the two companies have indicated their cooperation will extend into product localization efforts and engineering training programs.

After-sales service and technical capacity building are also identified as areas of ongoing collaboration, designed to support sustained solar-plus-storage deployment within Ukraine over time.

The announcement describes the overall intent of the partnership as combining Risen Energy's technology and global delivery capabilities with Ascania Energy's local expertise and market access. The 100 MW solar and 200 MWh storage figures represent the upper boundary of the project scope covered under the current memoranda of understanding.
