ReNew Commissions Record 2.4 GW of Renewable Energy in FY2026, Reaching 12.6 GW Total Operating Capacity
ReNew Energy Global Plc (a global renewable company) has commissioned approximately 2.4 gigawatts of renewable energy capacity in the fiscal year ending, the highest annual commissioning figure in the company's history, bringing its total operating portfolio to approximately 12.6 GW and establishing it as India's second largest renewable energy operator.
Record Commissioning Caps Landmark Year
The 2.4 GW commissioned during FY2026 comprises 1.75 GW of solar, 0.62 GW of wind, and 25 MW of battery energy storage systems carrying 100 MWh of storage capacity.
The total operating figure of 12.6 GW has been calculated after adjusting for 600 MW of assets that were sold during the year. ReNew described the commissioning volume as landing at the top end of its megawatt guidance for the period.
Beyond the commissioned assets, the company reported that approximately 450 MW of capacity has been fully constructed and is expected to be commissioned in the near term.
ReNew's gross capacity, which includes assets at various stages, stood at approximately 20 GW, including 1.7 GW of battery energy storage systems.
Sumant Sinha, Founder, Chairperson, and Chief Executive Officer of ReNew, said the milestone underscored the strength of the company's execution capabilities. "This has been a defining year for ReNew, with the addition of 2.4 GW of renewable energy capacity — the highest we have ever commissioned in a single year."
Sinha said, "Rising power demand, cost competitiveness of renewable energy, and supportive policy frameworks in India create a long-term compelling growth backdrop and environment," he added, noting that the results were achieved despite global macro volatility and geopolitical uncertainty.
