Reliance ADAG Announces Major Clean Energy Push with Integrated Solar Manufacturing and Battery Storage Systems
Anil Ambani-led Reliance ADAG has announced a significant expansion into clean energy, building two major manufacturing platforms under Reliance Infrastructure while simultaneously expanding its renewable energy operations through Reliance NU Energies. The company is developing an integrated solar manufacturing facility and a comprehensive battery energy storage system (BESS) ecosystem.
Integrated Solar Manufacturing Initiative
Reliance ADAG is establishing a fully integrated solar manufacturing factory that will produce ingots, wafers, cells, and modules under one roof. The facility will utilize next-generation technologies, including TopCon+ and future-ready back-contact and tandem cell designs. The company stated in a BSE release that it aims to leverage policy support, including expanded ALMM rules, PLI schemes, and domestic content requirements.
The new factory is expected to reduce India's dependence on imports and strengthen its clean-energy security. According to the company, India is projected to need nearly 55-60 GW of solar modules annually by 2030, but currently lacks significant upstream capacity.
Battery and Energy Storage Development
The Reliance ADAG is constructing a complete battery manufacturing and grid-scale BESS ecosystem. This platform will encompass cell manufacturing, pack assembly, and containerized BESS units for utility-scale projects. The company aims to capture 60-70% of the total value in the midstream part of the storage chain.

Reliance NU Energies Expansion
Reliance NU Energies, the renewable arm of Reliance Power, is transforming from a simple solar-focused platform to one offering round-the-clock renewable energy using a combination of solar, wind and BESS technologies. Over the past 12 months, the platform has secured 4.0 GW of solar projects, 6.5 GWh of BESS capacity, and 770 MW of hydropower in Bhutan with long-term 25-year power purchase agreements.
This diversified strategy enables the company to provide dispatchable green energy, participate in peak and round-the-clock tenders, and boost returns through digital optimization and energy trading.
Strategic Vision and Market Position
With integrated manufacturing, storage solutions and renewable power generation, Reliance ADAG aims to build a complete clean-energy ecosystem. The company describes this as a “flywheel” that will support India's target of installing 500 GW of non-fossil energy capacity and strengthen the country's Atmanirbhar Bharat (self-reliant) vision.
Reliance Infrastructure and Reliance Power together command a combined market capitalization of around INR 23,550 crore, supported by a large and diversified asset base of nearly INR 1.11 lakh crore.
The Anil Ambani Group's entry into the clean-energy sector comes amid scrutiny by the ED, CBI, and SEBI over multiple cases. The Enforcement Directorate recently filed a chargesheet against Reliance Power and several top executives, including former CFO Ashok Kumar Pal, alleging that an INR 68.2 crore bank guarantee submitted to the Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) was fake, issued through a shell entity and backed by forged endorsements and spoofed emails.
