PM Modi Inaugurates INR 1,22,100 Crore Development Projects in Rajasthan
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday laid foundation stone and inaugurated several projects in renewable energy, water supply, power sector, road, and infrastructure worth INR 1,22,100 crore at a function in Rajasthan's Banswara. Modi reached Banswara and attended the function, where he pressed a remote button to lay foundation stone and inaugurate the development and infrastructure projects in the presence of Union Minister Pralhad Joshi, Rajasthan governor Haribhau Bagade, and Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma.
Major Nuclear Power Project
Among the most significant projects is the Mahi-Banswara Nuclear Power Project, a 2,800 MW facility to be built for INR 42,000 crore in Banswara. This nuclear power facility represents a substantial portion of the total project value announced during the ceremony.
Renewable Energy and Power Infrastructure
Other projects for which the foundation stone was laid include a 590 MW renewable energy project in Bikaner and high-capacity power transmission lines across Jaisalmer, Barmer, Sirohi, Nagaur, and Bikaner. The Prime Minister also inaugurated three new grid substations in Bikaner and Jaisalmer as part of the power infrastructure development. The Prime Minister inaugurated multiple completed projects, including solar energy plants in Phalodi and decentralised solar energy plants of 895 MW capacity under the PM-KUSUM C scheme.
Chief Minister Sharma noted that Rajasthan is leading in solar energy production, with significant work completed in all three components of PM Kusum Yojna. Rooftop solar plants are being installed on government buildings across the state.

Water Supply and Irrigation Projects
Modi laid foundation stones for 15 new drinking water supply projects across 11 districts, including Banswara, Udaipur, Dungarpur, Sikar, and Ajmer. The inaugurated projects also included works at Isarda dam, Dholpur lift scheme, and other regional irrigation projects, addressing water infrastructure needs across multiple districts in the state.
Transportation and Road Infrastructure
The construction of two new flyovers, a bridge over the Banas river, and 119 roads under the Atal Pragati Path scheme in Bharatpur were among the projects inaugurated by Modi. Additionally, three Vande Bharat Express trains were virtually flagged off, including routes from Bikaner to Delhi Cantt, Jodhpur to Delhi Cantt, and Udaipur-Chandigarh express services.
Government Officials' Statements
Union Minister of New and Renewable Energy Pralhad Joshi stated that under Prime Minister Modi's leadership, a radical change has taken place in the country. He said that Modi has provided significant relief to poor and middle-class families by reducing GST rates, adding, "This is aimed at serving the poor." Joshi referenced that in 2012, all of North India was plunged into darkness for three days, which was considered a symbol of national weakness, but after Modi came to power in 2014, the situation completely changed.
Chief Minister Sharma highlighted the state's environmental initiatives, stating that, inspired by PM's 'Ek ped maa ke Naam' campaign, the state has set a target of planting 50 crore saplings in five years. In two years, 19 crore saplings have been planted across the state. Sharma also noted that due to investment in the state, jobs are being created in the private sector.
The ceremony in Banswara represented a comprehensive approach to infrastructure development, covering energy generation, power transmission, water supply, transportation, and environmental conservation across multiple districts in Rajasthan. The projects span both foundation stone laying for future developments and inauguration of completed facilities, indicating ongoing and immediate infrastructure improvements throughout the state.
