Origis Energy (renewable energy company) has reached a significant operational milestone at its Rockhound Solar complex in Ector County, Texas, announcing on July 30, 2026, that three additional phases of the project have entered commercial operations, bringing the site's total generating capacity to nearly 1 gigawatt-direct current.

The three newly completed phases account for approximately 500 MWdc of solar capacity, effectively doubling the operational footprint of the Rockhound complex.

 

The site already included the previously announced and operational Swift Air Solar facilities, which formed the foundation of what Origis Energy is building into one of the largest renewable energy infrastructure complexes in the United States.

The Miami-based company described the completion as a major milestone in a multi-phase buildout that has been years in the making. The Rockhound complex is specifically designed as a purpose-built energy hub intended to serve the long-term power requirements of large industrial and corporate customers.

 

 

Long-Term Offtake Agreements Anchor the Project

The commercial viability of the Rockhound complex is underpinned by long-term contracts with four major corporate offtakers: Meta, Occidental, dsm-firmenich, and Bekaert.

 

These agreements reflect a deliberate strategy by Origis Energy to align large-scale renewable generation capacity with sustained demand from energy-intensive customers across the technology, energy, chemical, and manufacturing sectors.

Full Build-Out Targeting More Than 2 GW by 2029
