The Sultanate of Oman has signed an agreement with the International Data Center Authority (IDCA) to develop and expand its digital economy and build the Oman Digital Triangle. The agreement follows months of multilateral and bilateral talks between IDCA and key government entities, including the Ministry of Energy and Minerals and the Ministry of Economy.
Scope of the National Agreement
Under the national agreement, IDCA's scope includes devising and launching the National Digital Infrastructure Roadmap, establishing the National Digital Infrastructure Standards, the National Digital Infrastructure Education, and the Oman Digital Triangle (ODT). The ODT is described as the first of its kind anywhere in the world, featuring highly interconnected digital hubs and AI superclusters.
The Oman Digital Triangle will provide GW-scale capacities for data center builds, connectivity, and the human capital necessary to operate primarily AI data centers and superclusters. It will leverage the geographical diversity and resilience that can be provided across the nation for AI Cloud providers.
