Leading global energy solutions company OEG has been awarded a contract by Ørsted to deliver temporary power to the Hornsea 3 Offshore Wind Farm during offshore converter station commissioning works and the turbine installation and commissioning phase.

Contract Award Details

Under the terms of the contract, OEG will provide temporary power onboard a jack up vessel for the duration of the offshore converter station commissioning works. This will involve using five 200kVA and two 300kVA generators running in synchronisation.

According to OEG, this bespoke solution enables the generators to provide enhanced temporary power requirements of up to 1,400kVA to the offshore converter station.

Turbine Installation and Commissioning Support

OEG will also supply temporary power to support the turbine installation and commissioning phase. This part of the scope comprises 150kVA generators paired with bespoke OEG 3,000 litre mountable fuel tanks.

The company describes this as a compact modular setup that maximises the power output to support the client's asset while minimising the equipment footprint on the transition piece, where space is restricted.

Rob Williams, technical manager for OEG's temporary power team, said the company has been working closely with the Ørsted construction management team over the last few months to ensure it provides the correct bespoke technical solutions in support of the project. He said OEG looks forward to continuing this close collaboration and supporting the project through to completion.

Building on an Established Relationship

The contract award builds on an existing relationship between OEG and Ørsted. OEG's temporary power team has previously supported the construction phases of both Hornsea 1 and Hornsea 2 offshore wind farms, alongside other Ørsted projects globally.

Alida Lewis, OEG's Head of Temporary Power, said the company is pleased to be collaborating with Ørsted on yet another project and is excited to expand its support to not only the WTG package but also the offshore converter station.

OEG's Wider Capabilities

OEG's topside division delivers an integrated range of specialist services to support the lifecycle of wind energy projects. These services include blade maintenance, high voltage solutions, offshore technologies, marine coordination and balance of plant, supported by teams of highly experienced onshore and offshore personnel.

Powering Ahead: Track United Kingdom's Energy Infrastructure Boom Before Your Competitors Do

The United Kingdom's power sector is entering a defining decade, with grid modernization, renewable integration, and nuclear restarts reshaping the continent's energy landscape. But how much of this pipeline is actually visible to you right now?

Scattered announcements, delayed tenders, and shifting regulatory timelines make it nearly impossible to piece together the full picture from public sources alone. Missing a single contract award can mean losing months of business development advantage in a market this competitive.

The Global Project Tracking (GPT) platform by Blackridge Research consolidates the United Kingdom's entire power project ecosystem into one actionable intelligence dashboard, giving your team the early visibility it needs to act first.
