OEG Energy Group Limited has been awarded a three-year contract by global renewable energy company Ørsted to provide crane and lifting equipment services for six offshore wind farms in Germany. The contract, which begins immediately, was secured through Specialist Marine Consultants Ltd (SMC), a company within OEG’s topside division.
The agreement will see SMC deliver crane and lift servicing, lifting inspections, and maintenance support across Ørsted’s German offshore wind assets. The contract also includes emergency response and call-out services, ensuring uninterrupted operations and timely maintenance response.
Enhancing Offshore Wind Performance
The scope of work involves the deployment of skilled personnel and specialized equipment to ensure that lifting systems at the wind farms operate efficiently. The goal is to reduce downtime, extend equipment life, and support optimal energy generation from the wind farms, which have a combined capacity exceeding 1,000 megawatts.
“Through this partnership, we are committed to helping Ørsted maintain high standards of safety, performance, and reliability across its offshore operations,” said a spokesperson from OEG. “This contract highlights our capabilities in supporting critical infrastructure within the renewable energy sector.”
The contract is also expected to contribute to the local economy by involving regional suppliers and subcontractors in delivering services. The partnership may lead to new employment opportunities, both directly within OEG and indirectly across the supply chain.
Ørsted’s six offshore wind farms play a key role in Germany’s energy transition strategy, supplying renewable electricity to hundreds of thousands of households. The continued maintenance and inspection of infrastructure such as cranes and lifts are vital to sustaining the long-term viability and efficiency of these installations.
