Nordex Group has moved into the active execution phase of its 392 MW Pestera II wind farm project in Romania, announcing the start of turbine manufacturing and initial site preparation works following the original order intake recorded in the fourth quarter of 2025.

Project Scope and Technical Specifications

The Pestera II wind farm will consist of 56 N163/6.X turbines, each with a nominal capacity of 7 MW, bringing the project's total installed capacity to 392 MW. The turbines will be mounted on 138-metre steel towers.

The project is being developed for Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners and is located in Constanța in southeastern Romania, within the Dobrogea region. Nordex cited the area's strong and stable wind conditions as well as its proximity to existing transmission infrastructure as key attributes of the site.

Execution Milestones and Construction Timeline

With turbine manufacturing now underway and initial site preparation activities begun, Nordex has also moved to secure certain long-lead items required for the project.

Contracts for components such as anchor cages have already been placed to support timely delivery and execution. Foundation works are scheduled to begin in the coming months, and the overall project remains on track for commissioning in 2028.

The Hamburg-based company described these steps as reaching the next execution milestone following the order intake announced last year, indicating that construction activities are progressing in line with the planned schedule.

Nordex described Pestera II as a flagship project for the company in Romania. The wind farm represents what Nordex characterised as a continued expansion of its activities in Eastern Europe, a region the company identified as benefiting from favourable market conditions and increasing demand for renewable energy capacity.
