Nadara, the NextGen Independent Power Producer (IPP+) with operations in Europe and the US, has completed the acquisition of the 48 MW Bettyhill Phase 2 Wind Farm in the Scottish Highlands from international developer Eden Renewables.
Deal Overview
The deal, announced from Edinburgh on 27 October 2026, builds on Nadara's existing UK portfolio and strengthens its position in what the company describes as one of Europe's top onshore wind markets.
Under the arrangement, Nadara will now finance, build, and operate the wind farm, taking over a project that Eden Renewables brought through ten years of development.
Project Details and Timeline
Located in Sutherland in the Scottish Highlands, Bettyhill Phase 2 will comprise up to ten wind turbines. Construction is expected to begin in the first quarter of 2027, with the wind farm due to commence operation in the fourth quarter of 2028.
The project was unanimously consented to by The Highland Council in February 2024. According to the announcement, the council praised the scheme for its exemplary community engagement and benefits. Nadara characterised Bettyhill Phase 2 as a high-quality, fully consented project.

Part of a Broader UK Growth Strategy
Nadara said the transaction forms part of its growth ambitions in the UK, which it is pursuing through both development and selective additions of assets that complement its existing portfolio.
That approach includes taking consented projects through to financing, construction, and operation, which is the route Bettyhill Phase 2 will now follow.
Jorge Martinez, Chief Growth Officer at Nadara, said the acquisition demonstrates the company's growth ambitions in both Scotland and the wider UK and complements its strong development pipeline.
"With a strong UK market, full of potential, Nadara will continue to develop, build and operate energy projects with a strong connection with the communities we work with," Martinez said. He also thanked Eden for the work it had done to bring the project to its current stage.
Community Benefits Package
A programme of community engagement has been central to Bettyhill Phase 2 since the earliest stages of its development. Eden Renewables put in place a community benefits package, which Nadara has committed to honouring.
The package includes an opportunity for the local community to own up to 20% of Bettyhill Phase 2, a local electricity discount scheme, and an innovative school and education programme. The announcement also lists a community benefits fund among the elements of the package.
Nadara said its close alignment with Eden's community-focused approach was an important factor in the transaction. The company added that it will continue its relationship with the local community throughout the construction and operation phases of the wind farm.
Developer's Perspective
Ross Wolhuter, Head of Development at Eden Renewables, said the company was delighted that Nadara will build and operate the project. He said the two companies share the same values and commitments around community engagement, benefits, and shared ownership.
"We're confident they will build on the many years of work Eden has put into making this an exemplary project, promoting shared community ownership and contributing to the Highlands economy and Scotland's energy security," Wolhuter said.
About Nadara
Nadara describes itself as a NextGen Independent Power Producer, or IPP+, with operations in Europe and the US. The Bettyhill Phase 2 acquisition adds to a UK portfolio that the company says already gives it a leading position in the country's onshore wind sector.
The company's recent announcements, listed alongside the acquisition news on its website, include a USD 1.34 billion pan-European refinancing to drive its next phase of renewable growth, a 227 MW agrivoltaic project with Amazon in Sicily that it describes as Italy's largest, an effort to accelerate UK repowering with a community-led approach, and the sale of Vector Renewables as part of what it called a sharpened strategic focus.
The company also reported achieving a score of 100/100 in its 2026 GRESB assessment.
Looking Ahead on Bettyhill
With the acquisition complete, the project moves from a development phase led by Eden Renewables into a financing and construction phase led by Nadara. Construction is expected to start in the first quarter of 2027, and the wind farm is expected to begin operating in the fourth quarter of 2028.
Nadara has committed to honouring the community benefits package put in place by Eden, including the opportunity for up to 20% community ownership, the local electricity discount scheme, the education programme and the community benefits fund.
