The Power Transmission & Distribution (PT&D) vertical of Larsen & Toubro has secured grid infrastructure orders in the Middle East, the company announced on October 13, 2025. These orders fall under the company's “Large” project classification, which encompasses projects valued between INR 2,500 to INR 5,000 crore according to L&T's internal classification system.

GCC Super Grid Interconnection Project

L&T PT&D has won an order to engineer, procure, and construct a 400 kV Substation in the UAE as part of establishing a direct interconnection at the 400 kV level. This project is linked to the 400kV super grid interconnection that connects the electricity networks of GCC member states, which has helped in efficient utilization of generation capacity and improved overall grid resilience.

Currently, the network of the Sultanate of Oman is connected to this interconnection through UAE's grid at 220kV. The new 400 kV Substation in UAE is described as crucial for establishing the direct interconnection at the higher voltage level.

Additional Middle East Infrastructure Orders

Beyond the UAE substation project, L&T has secured another order for building a set of new 132kV substations in the Middle East. These substations are intended to cater to electricity demand growth in the region. The company has also received an order in Saudi Arabia for the turnkey construction of 380 kV overhead transmission lines. These transmission lines are associated with the integration of renewable energy power plants into the grid infrastructure.
