Terra-Gen, the California-based renewable energy producer jointly owned by Masdar and Igneo Infrastructure Partners, has announced that its Lockhart Solar PV IV project has reached commercial operations, completing the final phase of the Lockhart Solar and Energy Storage facility in San Bernardino County and bringing the complex's total solar generation capacity to 365 megawatts.
Final Phase Completes a Four-Part Development
The 80-megawatt Lockhart IV project marks the conclusion of a multi-phase development effort that has transformed approximately 4,000 acres of private land in San Bernardino County into one of California's significant solar and storage installations.
With all four phases now operational, the complete Lockhart Solar and Storage facility comprises 365 MW of solar generation capacity and 173.7 MW of battery storage, which Terra-Gen says is sufficient to meet the annual energy needs of more than 350,000 homes and businesses.
The facility as a whole includes nearly one million solar modules and 248 battery enclosures, connected to the broader grid through an existing gen-tie line linking to Southern California Edison's Kramer Junction Substation.

Lockhart IV Specifics
The fourth phase alone contributes 80 MW of solar capacity, which Terra-Gen describes as enough to power approximately 40,000 homes and businesses annually.
The project will deliver electricity under a long-term power purchase agreement with a California load-serving entity, though the specific counterparty was not identified in the announcement.
Cupertino Electric served as the engineering, procurement, and construction contractor for the Lockhart IV project. Construction created more than 220 jobs at peak activity, with crews logging over 122,000 work hours. Terra-Gen noted that the project was completed with no lost-time incidents.

The completion of Lockhart IV adds to Terra-Gen's existing renewable energy portfolio in California, though the announcement did not provide further details on the company's other operational projects in the state or the composition of the 15 GW development pipeline.
