Kinetics, an energy infrastructure initiative established by the Turkish energy group Karpowership, announced on Sept. 30, 2026, that it will expand its LNG infrastructure fleet by converting the LNG carrier Arctic Voyager into a Floating Storage and Regasification Unit (FSRU) to be named LNGT Akdeniz. The announcement, made from London, confirms the company's decision to add another converted vessel to its floating LNG portfolio.

Vessel Specifications

Once the conversion is complete, LNGT Akdeniz will operate as a multi-spec FSRU with a storage capacity of approximately 143,000 cubic meters and a regasification flow rate of 650 million standard cubic feet per day.

The vessel will feature Moss-type cargo tanks and is expected to have an economic life of 20 years. Delivery of the converted vessel is anticipated in the third quarter of 2028.

Kinetics stated that the unit will complement its existing fleet by providing utility-scale regasification capacity, together with the flexibility to serve a wide range of project configurations.

Company Leadership on Market Demand

Mehmet Katmer, General Manager of Kinetics, said the global LNG market continues to show strong demand for flexible, rapidly deployable regasification infrastructure.

He cited growing focus on security of energy supply, the need for flexible import capacity, and the ability to bring gas infrastructure online within shorter development timelines as factors supporting demand for floating LNG solutions.

According to Katmer, the investment strengthens Kinetics' ability to serve a broad range of market requirements through a diversified fleet of high-specification, utility-scale FSRU assets.

Zeynep Harezi Yılmaz, Chief Commercial Officer of Karpowership, described Kinetics as a natural extension of Karpowership's integrated energy offering. She said that by growing its fleet of floating LNG infrastructure, Kinetics is strengthening the group's ability to help clients secure reliable energy supply and diversify their energy mix as they move towards a lower-carbon future.

About Kinetics and Its Portfolio

Kinetics develops, builds, owns, and operates floating LNG infrastructure and next-generation energy solutions alongside a growing renewable portfolio. Its portfolio includes floating storage and regasification units, floating storage units, battery energy storage systems, and other flexible energy platforms designed to help utilities, governments, and industrial customers accelerate access to secure, reliable, and cleaner energy infrastructure. The company combines engineering expertise with rapid deployment capabilities to support energy security and the global energy transition.

The announcement of the LNGT Akdeniz conversion follows another recent development for the company, which has also begun construction of its first high-capacity FSRU, LNGT, marking a milestone in the expansion of its floating LNG infrastructure portfolio.

Karpowership's Broader Operations

Karpowership, the parent initiative behind Kinetics, is a global energy company with more than 25 years of experience delivering fast, flexible, and reliable power solutions.

As the owner and operator of the world's only Powership fleet, the company provides over 8,500 MW of capacity through 45 Powerships, supported by land-based and renewable assets. Karpowership also manages the full LNG value chain with 11 LNG vessels, covering procurement, storage, regasification, and offshore transfer.

Looking Ahead

With delivery of LNGT Akdeniz expected in Q3 2028, the conversion project adds to Kinetics' growing roster of floating LNG assets. The company positions the new vessel as part of its strategy to offer utility-scale regasification capacity adaptable to a wide range of project configurations, addressing what it identifies as sustained market demand for flexible import infrastructure.

Don't Get Left Behind in the Global Booming FSRU Project Pipeline

What separates the winners from the spectators in the global FSRU sector? Timing. The companies that secure contracts first are the ones that saw the opportunity coming long before the tender was published.

Around the world, billions are being committed to refinery expansions, LNG terminals, pipeline networks, and upstream developments. Yet much of this intelligence remains scattered across press releases, government bulletins, and industry whispers, leaving firms to react instead of anticipate.
