LNGT Turkey, a Karpowership vessel formerly known as KARADENIZ LNGT POWERSHIP TÜRKIYE, is preparing to enter service as a floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU) under the technical management of Synergy Marine Group.
Vessel prepared following Singapore naming ceremony
The vessel's naming ceremony took place at Seatrium's Admiralty Yard in Singapore in September, and Synergy's involvement in her conversion and commissioning now continues as the unit approaches operational service.
Seatrium carried out LNGT Turkey's shipyard conversion for Karpowership. Once in service, the vessel will offer 127 594 m3 of LNG storage in Moss-type tanks and can regasify up to 150 million ft3/d of gas.
A growing conversion portfolio for Synergy
Synergy's role in LNGT Turkey's conversion and commissioning builds on its prior work with two sister conversions, LNGT AMERICAS and LNGT OCEANIA. For LNGT AMERICAS, which was delivered in 2025, Synergy managed the conversion project on a turnkey basis, covering design, engineering, procurement and site supervision, before assuming full technical management of the vessel.
The group's record in LNG conversions also extends to a project completed in 2020, in which an LNG carrier was converted into a floating storage unit (FSU).
According to Synergy, its Projects and Lifecycle team works alongside its gas carrier management colleagues. This arrangement is intended to bring knowledge gained during conversion and commissioning into maintenance planning, crew preparation, and technical support once the vessel is in service.

CEO stresses responsibility continues beyond delivery
Jesper Kristensen, Group CEO of Synergy Marine Group, commented on the company's approach to conversion projects and its ongoing relationship with Karpowership.
"Karpowership is giving LNG carriers a second working life as gas supply infrastructure for power generation," he said. "For me, the test of a conversion is how well the unit serves that new purpose over the years that follow. Our responsibility continues in service, so maintainability and the demands on the crew matter to us from the project stage. I thank Karpowership for its confidence in Synergy across LNGT AMERICAS, OCEANIA, and Turkey."
Part of a wider floating LNG trend
The move to bring LNGT Turkey into FSRU service comes as activity in the floating LNG sector continues to draw attention across the industry. Recent related developments reported by the LNG Industry include Golar LNG's acquisition of a conversion vessel on 9 October 2026, and Seatrium securing an FSRU conversion contract from Excelerate Energy on the same day. Earlier that week, on 6 October 2026, Wood Mackenzie published analysis identifying floating LNG as the primary route to supply diversification.
With LNGT Turkey's naming ceremony complete and Synergy Marine Group in place as technical manager, Karpowership's latest converted unit now stands ready to join the company's expanding fleet of gas supply infrastructure serving power generation.
