Juniper Green Energy has signed a power purchase agreement (PPA) with state-owned SJVN Ltd. to supply round-the-clock 320 MW of renewable energy. The company will be developing 1 GW of renewable energy projects in Gujarat and Rajasthan. The 25-year PPA, secured at a tariff of USD 0.052 (INR 4.38) per unit, propels Juniper's operational and under-construction renewable energy projects to 2.5 GW.
Through this project, the company anticipates an annual generation of 2,179 million units, which will offset approximately 20,41,811 metric tons of CO2 annually. This initiative is expected to significantly enhance energy access for approximately 434,000 households.
Naresh Mansukhani, CEO of Juniper Green Energy, expressed his enthusiasm about the PPA with SJVN. He stated that this agreement demonstrates their capability to undertake and successfully deliver large-scale, impactful hybrid projects that drive the national agenda for a sustainable future.
Juniper Green Energy, based out of Delhi-NCR, commenced operations in October 2018. The company is part of the AT Group, which has an asset portfolio of USD 2.5 billion with global investments in renewable energy, residential & commercial real estate, hospitality, etc. It is a significant step forward in India's journey towards sustainable energy and reducing its carbon footprint. Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) has issued a 500MW Solar -Phase VII bid in the month of June 2022. Juniper was a successful bidder in this bid and has executed a power purchase agreement for a 75 MW solar power project in July 2023. This project will be developed in the state of Maharashtra, with a scheduled date of commissioning in Q1 2024.
Juniper Green is developing a 140 MW solar power project in the state of Rajasthan. This project will be their first ISTS connected project and aims to sell electricity through the merchant/C&I route. This project will be developed and commissioned in Q4 2024.
Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Limited (GUVNL) issued a 500MW Wind-Phase III bid in May 2022. Juniper was a successful bidder in this bid and has signed a PPA for a 70 MW wind power project in Dec 2022. This project will be developed in the state of Gujarat, with a scheduled date of commissioning in Dec 2024.
