JSW Energy Subsidiary Signs 25-Year Solar Power Agreement With BESCOM For 100 MW Project

Updated on Jul 25, 2025, 04:00 AM IST

JSW Energy announced that its step-down subsidiary JSW Renew Energy Forty Five has signed a power purchase agreement with Bangalore Electricity Supply Company (BESCOM) for a grid-connected 100 MW solar project. The agreement, finalized on Thursday, includes a 100 MWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) and spans a 25-year tenure at a tariff of Rs 4.31 per kWh.

Project Development and Infrastructure

The solar project will be developed on a designated site and connected to the 220/400 kV KPTCL Firozabad substation located in Kalaburagi district. JSW Renew Energy Forty Five Ltd, identified as a step-down subsidiary of JSW Energy, will be responsible for the project's development and implementation. The project combines solar power generation with energy storage capabilities through the integrated 100 MWh Battery Energy Storage System, positioning it as a comprehensive renewable energy solution.

Energy Storage Capacity Expansion

Following this agreement, JSW Energy's total locked-in energy storage capacity has reached 29.4 GWh. This capacity comprises 3.0 GWh of Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) and 26.4 GWh of Pumped Hydro Storage, representing a diversified approach to energy storage technologies.

The company has established a target of achieving 40 GWh of energy storage capacity by 2030. According to the regulatory filing, JSW Energy is well positioned to meet this ambitious target given its current progress and project pipeline.

Corporate Structure and Regulatory Compliance

The Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) was disclosed through a regulatory filing by JSW Energy, demonstrating the company's commitment to transparency in its business operations. JSW Renew Energy Forty Five Ltd operates as a step-down subsidiary within the JSW Energy corporate structure, handling specific renewable energy projects and agreements.

The 25-year duration of the power purchase agreement provides long-term revenue visibility and operational stability for the solar project, while the fixed tariff of Rs 4.31 per kWh establishes clear financial parameters for the electricity supply arrangement with BESCOM.
