Jinko ESS is advancing a 220 MWh hybrid battery energy storage portfolio in Germany, a project the company says brings together battery storage and solar generation under a single integrated framework. The portfolio combines green BESS capacity directly associated with renewable generation and grey BESS capacity that can provide broader system and market flexibility.

Hybrid Energy Solutions Enhance Flexibility and Stability

The company stated that the combination of battery storage and solar generation can create a more flexible and predictable renewable energy profile. By shifting energy across time, balancing variations in photovoltaic output, and responding to market signals, the hybrid portfolio is intended to strengthen the commercial value of renewable generation while supporting grid stability.

Coupling the storage assets with a planned PV portfolio under a hybrid PPA framework, the company said, demonstrates an integrated approach to managing generation, storage, and energy delivery.

Tera Liquid-Cooled System at the Core

The hybrid portfolio is built on the Jinko Tera liquid-cooled energy storage system, which has a capacity of 5.01 MWh. According to the press release, the system offers 3x grid-forming capability for 10 seconds, delivering strong instantaneous support under weak-grid and high-dynamic-power conditions. The system's black-start and fast frequency-regulation capabilities are described as markedly enhancing dynamic stability and grid adaptability.

Jinko ESS also highlighted the technical performance figures of the Tera system. Its tested round-trip conversion efficiency reaches 94.1%, and the system carries a 20-year design life. The company stated that this design life further compresses the levelized cost of energy over the full lifecycle.
