Inox Wind Limited has won a 100 MW turnkey wind power project order from Indian Oil Corporation, with a contract value of approximately USD 80 million, marking another significant award for the company from one of India's largest public sector undertakings.

Scope of the Order

The contract covers end-to-end execution of the wind power project, encompassing the supply of wind turbine generators, engineering, procurement, and construction services, full project execution, and post-commissioning operations and maintenance services spanning ten years.

The comprehensive nature of the agreement reflects the turnkey model that Inox Wind has positioned as a core part of its commercial offering, bringing together its manufacturing, development, EPC and long-term service capabilities under a single contract structure.

The order is described by Inox Wind as a repeat order from Indian Oil Corporation, indicating an existing relationship between the two organisations. The company said the award further strengthens its presence among large institutional customers, a category it defines as including public sector undertakings, commercial and industrial customers, and independent power producers.

Strategic Significance for Inox Wind

For Inox Wind, the Indian Oil order represents continued traction in a segment of the market that has become increasingly important as large enterprises and government-linked organisations look to secure dedicated renewable energy capacity.

The company stated that the order reflects growing demand from large enterprises and public sector organisations for reliable renewable energy solutions as India accelerates its transition toward clean energy.

The project will draw on what Inox Wind describes as its integrated capabilities across the wind energy value chain. That integration spans wind turbine manufacturing through to project development, EPC execution and long-term operations and maintenance, with each element handled through entities within the broader Inox group structure.

Manufacturing and Technology Platform

Inox Wind operates an annual manufacturing capacity of 2.5 gigawatts, supported by facilities spread across three Indian states: Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh and Himachal Pradesh. The company manufactures key wind turbine components in-house, including blades, tubular towers, hubs, and nacelles.

On the technology side, the company currently offers a 3 MW wind turbine generator platform and has an upcoming 4.45 MW platform in development. The larger platform, once available, would represent a meaningful step up in per-turbine output, a factor that can affect both project economics and land use requirements for customers commissioning utility-scale installations.

Group Structure Supporting Execution

The execution of an order of this scale draws on multiple entities within the Inox group. Inox Green Energy Services, a subsidiary of Inox Wind, provides renewable energy operations and maintenance services and would be the entity responsible for the decade-long O&M commitment attached to the Indian Oil contract.

Inox Renewable Solutions is the group entity that undertakes EPC services for wind and solar projects. That subsidiary also develops common infrastructure, including power evacuation infrastructure, which forms a critical component of bringing a wind power project to operational status.

The combination of these group companies allows Inox Wind to present a single-point turnkey offering to customers such as Indian Oil while relying on specialised subsidiaries for distinct aspects of delivery.

Indian Oil's Renewable Push

The order from Indian Oil Corporation fits within a broader pattern of large Indian public sector enterprises building out their own renewable energy capacity. As one of India's major integrated energy companies, Indian Oil has been among the PSUs seeking to establish a footprint in clean power generation.

A 100 MW wind project of this nature, awarded on a turnkey basis with a decade of O&M support included, allows the organisation to take on a renewable energy asset without maintaining in-house project development or operational expertise.

The repeat nature of the order, as noted by Inox Wind, suggests that a prior engagement between the two organisations has met with sufficient satisfaction to generate additional business.

The current contract at USD 80 million for 100 MW represents a substantial commitment from Indian Oil to wind-based power generation through the Inox platform.

Market Context

India has set ambitious targets for expanding its renewable energy capacity, and wind power remains one of the primary technologies through which that expansion is expected to occur.

Large institutional buyers, both in the public and private sectors, have become increasingly active participants in commissioning dedicated renewable capacity rather than relying solely on power purchase agreements with independent generators.

For equipment and services companies such as Inox Wind, this trend creates opportunities to secure large, integrated contracts that combine hardware supply with long-duration service agreements, providing revenue visibility over an extended period.

The ten-year O&M component of the Indian Oil order is consistent with this commercial model, locking in a recurring services relationship well beyond the initial construction and commissioning phase.

Powering Your Pipeline: Stay Ahead of India's Energy Infrastructure Wave

The Indian power sector is expanding at a pace that leaves little room for missed opportunities; new generation capacity, grid modernization programs, and renewable energy mandates are reshaping the competitive landscape faster than ever before.

For developers, contractors, and investors operating across India, having the right project intelligence at the right moment is the difference between winning work and watching from the sidelines. Fragmented data sources and delayed reporting simply cannot keep pace with the region's ambitions.
