Helios Nordic Energy AB (Renewable energy developer) has completed the divestment of over 550 MW / 1,100 MWh of battery energy storage system projects in Finland, the Swedish developer announced.

The transactions, comprising six separate projects, were carried out with a mix of international independent power producers and infrastructure funds, with all buyers remaining undisclosed.

A Landmark Series of Transactions

The latest deal in the series involved the divestment and delivery of a 125 MW / 250 MWh battery energy storage system project, which pushed the cumulative total of divested BESS capacity in the Finnish market beyond the 550 MW mark.

All six transactions were completed within the past six months, representing what the company describes as a significant milestone in its development activities across the Nordic region.

Magnus Häggström, Chief Commercial Officer at Helios Nordic Energy, said the results reflect both the quality of the company's pipeline and the capabilities of its team.

"Successfully delivering more than 550 MW of storage projects within such a short timeframe is a testament to both the quality of our pipeline and the capabilities of our team. These projects will play an important role in enabling the energy transition by supporting grid stability and facilitating increased integration of renewable energy," he said.

Rapid Growth Since Entering Finland

Helios established its operations in Finland only three years ago. In that time, the company has built a substantial development pipeline and executed multiple transactions in the Finnish market. The pace and scale of the BESS divestments underscore the speed at which Helios has scaled its presence in the country since entering the market.

The transactions also highlight Helios' positioning as a developer active across both solar photovoltaic and battery energy storage segments in the Nordics. The company has framed its BESS portfolio as a key component of the broader energy transition, with the projects intended to support grid stability and enable greater integration of renewable energy sources across the region.

Solar PV Activity Runs in Parallel

Alongside its battery storage work in Finland, Helios has an established track record in solar PV development. The company has previously developed and divested solar PV projects totaling more than 300 MW, many of which are either operational or currently under construction. In May 2026, Sweden's second-largest solar PV park was inaugurated, a project connected to Helios' development activity in the region.

The company's broader Nordic portfolio has attracted attention on the national stage as well. Earlier in 2026, two of Helios' solar parks were recognized on a national top list in Sweden, further cementing the company's reputation as an active and growing force in Scandinavian renewable energy development.

Part of the Vinci Group

Helios Nordic Energy became part of the French Vinci group in May 2024, a corporate development that provided additional backing for the company's continued expansion across the Nordics.

Since that acquisition, Helios has continued to execute transactions across both Sweden and Finland, including a 10 MW battery energy storage system sale in the SE3 price area of Sweden, completed in December 2024.

The six Finnish BESS transactions completed over the past six months represent a substantial acceleration of activity relative to that earlier deal, reflecting growing demand from international buyers for battery storage assets in the Nordic market.

The involvement of both independent power producers and infrastructure funds among the buyers points to broad interest across different categories of energy investors.

Market Context and Buyer Interest

The transactions come against a backdrop of increasing activity in the European battery storage market, as developers and investors look to capitalize on the role that large-scale storage plays in balancing electricity grids increasingly supplied by variable renewable energy sources. Helios noted the strong ongoing interest in its BESS portfolio as a key factor enabling it to complete the series of six deals within the six-month window.

The company did not disclose the financial terms of any of the transactions, and the identities of all buyers across the six deals remain confidential. Helios indicated that the projects, now transferred to their respective buyers, will contribute to grid stability and the continued build-out of renewable energy infrastructure in Finland.
