Heerema Marine Contractors (Dutch marine contractor) has finished the offshore foundation installation campaign for the Bałtyk 2 and 3 offshore wind farms in the Baltic Sea, completing the work ahead of schedule and delivering what the company describes as a milestone in Poland's energy transition.

Scope of the Campaign

The campaign involved the installation of 100 monopiles and 100 transition pieces to support wind turbines, along with two offshore substation jackets. The work spanned four months in the Baltic Sea and was executed using Heerema's heavy-lift vessel Thialf as the centerpiece of operations. At peak performance, Thialf achieved a rate of up to two monopile installations per day.

The project serves as the foundation for 100 wind turbines in total, making Bałtyk 2 and 3 one of Poland's largest offshore wind developments. Heerema described the overall campaign as having been delivered well ahead of its original schedule.
