Eurowind Energy Romania has begun construction on three new wind farms after receiving setting-up authorizations from the National Energy Regulatory Authority (ANRE), marking a significant expansion of the Danish company's renewable energy footprint in the country.

Three Projects, Two Counties

The three wind farms, Frumușița, Vector, and Pecineaga Nord-East, will collectively deliver 138 MW of installed capacity to the Romanian grid, powered by 23 Vestas turbines. Construction is now underway across two counties in southeastern Romania.

The largest of the three is the Frumușița Wind Farm, located in Frumușița, Galați County, with a planned installed capacity of 66 MW supported by 11 turbines. Also situated in Frumușița is the smaller Vector Wind Farm, which will contribute 24 MW through four turbines. The third project, Pecineaga Nord-East, is located in Pecineaga, Constanța County, and will carry an installed capacity of 48 MW across eight turbines.

All 23 turbines will be the Vestas V162-6.2 MW model. Delivery of the turbines is scheduled for the second half of 2026, with commissioning of all three parks estimated for 2027. Long-term maintenance will be covered by a 20-year service contract.

ANRE Authorizations Clear the Path to Construction

The construction start follows receipt of the required setting-up authorizations from ANRE, Romania's National Energy Regulatory Authority. For Eurowind Energy Romania, this regulatory milestone translated directly into active construction sites across Galați and Constanța counties.

Adrian Dobre, Country Manager of Eurowind Energy Romania, described the moment as the culmination of years of preparation. "We are pleased to announce the start of construction work at Frumușița, Vector, and Pecineaga Nord-East, a moment that confirms we are honoring our commitments and staying on the planned track," Dobre said. "The years of preparation behind these three parks are now becoming concrete construction sites."

Dobre also framed the projects in the broader context of Romania's energy transition, pointing to the importance of consistent energy policy in enabling long-term investment.

"These projects matter not only for their size, but because they mark a new stage in wind energy development at the national level," he said. "This is a step that reflects the consistency of energy policy in recent years, and we hope this direction continues."

Building on More Than a Decade of Local Operations

Eurowind Energy Romania has been active on the local market since 2011, developing and operating renewable energy projects with a dedicated local team. The company currently has 184 MW in operation in Romania. Its existing operational portfolio includes four solar parks, Hălchiu, Măgurele, Pufești, and Teiuș, along with one wind farm, Pecineaga, and 60 MW of battery storage located at the Teiuș site.

The three new wind farms represent a significant step up from the existing base. Once the Frumușița, Vector, and Pecineaga Nord-East projects reach commissioning in 2027, they will add 138 MW to the company's operational capacity in Romania.

Beyond what is already built or under construction, the company holds a development pipeline of approximately 7.5 GW across various stages of development in Romania.

A Danish Company Expanding Across Europe and the United States

The parent company, Eurowind Energy A/S, is a Danish firm founded in 2006 that specializes in the development, construction, and operation of renewable energy parks.

Its project portfolio spans wind, solar, hydrogen, biogas, power-to-heat solutions, and battery storage. The company employs more than 700 people and operates across 16 markets in Europe and the United States.

Romania represents one of the more active markets in the company's international portfolio, with Dobre noting that more than a decade of local operations has allowed the company to build what he described as a strong local team, a growing portfolio, and trusted partnerships.

The Pecineaga Nord-East project is particularly notable in the context of Eurowind Energy Romania's history in the country, as it neighbors the existing Pecineaga wind farm already in operation within the company's Romanian portfolio.

The new Nord-East development extends the company's presence in Constanța County, while the two Galați County projects, Frumușița and Vector, mark the company's entry into wind energy development in that region.
