European Energy has reached commercial operation at its first wind park in Greece, marking a significant entry point for the Danish renewable energy developer into the Greek market. The Tsoukes Sarres wind park, with a total installed capacity of 27 megawatts, is now supplying renewable electricity to the Greek power grid.

Project Details and Location

Tsoukes Sarres is located in the Municipal Unit of Avlida, spanning the regions of Voiotia and Evia. The wind park consists of six onshore Vestas V150-4.4 wind turbines delivering a combined installed capacity of 27 MW.

Construction began in 2024 and presented considerable logistical challenges, requiring work in mountainous, rocky terrain at an elevation of approximately 700 meters. The project is now in full commercial operation.

Joint Ownership With Sampension

The wind park is jointly owned by European Energy and Sampension, a Danish pension company. In December 2025, European Energy divested a 50 percent stake in the project to Sampension as part of an existing partnership between the two companies covering renewable energy investments across Europe. The transaction preceded the project's completion, bringing institutional capital into the asset ahead of its move into commercial operation.

Torbjørn Lange, Head of Real Estate and Infrastructure at Sampension, described the milestone as significant for the partnership. "It has been exciting to follow the development and construction of Tsoukes Sarres from the early stages through to commercial operation.

The completion of the project marks an important milestone, and we look forward to following its performance in the years ahead. At the same time, we look forward to continuing our strong partnership with European Energy supporting the green transition and the development of renewable energy across Europe," Lange said.

European Energy's View on the Greek Market

Joanis Duraj, Director and Country Manager for European Energy in Greece, said the completion of Tsoukes Sarres demonstrates the company's capacity to carry projects through the full development lifecycle in the country.

"Bringing Tsoukes Sarres into commercial operation is an important step for European Energy in Greece. As our first operational wind project in the country, it demonstrates our ability to deliver renewable energy projects from development through construction and operation. We are proud of what our team and partners have achieved and look forward to building on this experience in Greece," Duraj said.

Thorvald Spangaard, Executive Vice President of Project Development at European Energy, pointed to Greece as an attractive destination for further renewable energy investment, citing opportunities both in direct development and through partnerships and transactions with local and international investors.

"Greece is an attractive market for renewable energy investment, and we see opportunities both to develop projects ourselves and to grow through partnerships and transactions. Tsoukes Sarres and our partnership with Sampension demonstrate how we can bring together our development capabilities and long-term institutional capital, and we see potential to pursue similar opportunities as we mature our activities in Greece," Spangaard said.

Broader Portfolio in Development

European Energy has an established presence in Greece beyond the Tsoukes Sarres project. The company is developing a broader portfolio of renewable energy projects in the country that spans onshore wind, solar, and battery energy storage.

The completion of Tsoukes Sarres represents the first project from that pipeline to reach commercial operation, and the company has indicated it sees the Greek market as a platform for continued expansion through both organic development and investment partnerships.
