EUR 40 billion Tel Aviv Metro to be led by Egis

Last Updated on 08th January 2024

Egis, a French infrastructure company, has been awarded the concession to manage the creation of a new €40 billion subterranean metro system in Tel Aviv, billed as Israel's largest infrastructure project ever.

The new metro will consist of three lines with a total length of 150 kilometers and 109 stations.

For the first 18 months, Egis and local partner Gadish Group will assist project owner NTA Metropolitan Mass Transit System Ltd. - the state company in charge of the system – in developing the project's overall execution strategy, scope of work, and procurement.

The project will thereafter be managed at the network level until commercial operations begin.

HDR, a global design, engineering, and planning firm, will offer the partnership with specialized complimentary services.

"We are very pleased and proud to assist NTA in developing the largest infrastructure project ever undertaken in the country," said Olivier Bouvart, Egis' chief executive for rail.

To make this project a success, we'll combine all we've learned about the country, the customer, and the culture with our international experience and more than 50 years of technological competence."

"We are proud to join forces with an experienced partner like Egis, and we are committed to providing a highly professional service to the Metro network, NTA's flagship project, together with our partners," said Moshe Benjo, Gadish group CEO. "The NTA can rest easy knowing that their project is in good hands."
