Envision Energy and Pulse Clean Energy Join Forces on 310 MWh Battery Storage Project in Wolverhampton, England

Envision Energy, a global green technology company, has entered into a partnership with Pulse Clean Energy to develop a 129 MW / 310 MWh battery energy storage system in Wolverhampton, West Midlands, England.

 

The announcement was made at Intersolar Europe in Munich, Germany, on July 6, 2026, and represents what both companies describe as a landmark project for next-generation energy storage infrastructure in the United Kingdom.

Project Specifications and Technology

The Wolverhampton project was originally designed for a two-hour duration but has been optimized by Envision to achieve 2.4-hour autonomy. According to the companies, this adjustment demonstrates the adaptability of Envision's technology in responding to evolving grid requirements.

Envision will deliver a system-level storage solution that integrates its Gen 7 BESS platform, advanced battery technologies, and grid-forming capabilities. The company says the combination is intended to enhance grid stability, improve system flexibility, and support rising electricity demand driven by electrification. The project is backed by Envision's locally based team, which the company says brings deep expertise in grid integration and Balance-of-Plant scope.

Independent third-party ESG due diligence has also been incorporated into the project delivery, which Envision says reinforces its commitment to transparent operations, responsible delivery, and sustainable development.

 

Strategic Significance for the UK Energy Market

Both companies have characterized the project as a milestone for the United Kingdom's broader energy transition. The system is intended to enable greater renewable energy integration, strengthen regional energy resilience, and support the decarbonization of key local industries in the West Midlands, including manufacturing and logistics.

The project also marks an important step in Envision's deployment of what it calls its Future Energy Systems platform in the UK, a framework the company describes as designed to support more flexible, resilient, and low-carbon energy infrastructure.

For Pulse Clean Energy, which specializes in energy storage development and operations, the Wolverhampton site represents a continuation of its strategy to build and operate large-scale storage infrastructure across the country.

Vasilis Ntanovasilis, Director of Asset Delivery at Pulse Clean Energy, framed the collaboration in terms of shared strategic ambition. "This partnership reflects a shared ambition to accelerate the UK's energy transition," he said.

Envision's Broader European Activity

The Wolverhampton project is not Envision Energy's only recent major battery storage initiative in Europe. Separately, the company has also announced a partnership with Elements Green, an international independent power producer, for a 1,600 MWh BESS project located in Stadorf, Germany.

 

That project further illustrates Envision's expanding footprint in European energy storage markets, though the details and timeline of the Stadorf development are separate from the Wolverhampton announcement.

Envision Energy describes itself as a global leader in green technology and has framed its Future Energy Systems approach as an AI-powered platform designed to integrate storage, renewable generation, and grid management capabilities.

 

The company's involvement in both the UK and German projects signals an active push into European markets at a time when grid-scale battery storage is drawing significant investment and policy attention across the continent.

The choice of Wolverhampton as the project location is tied to the region's industrial character and its energy infrastructure needs.
