ENGIE North America announced it has entered into additional Power Purchase Agreements with Meta, increasing the overall scale of the commercial relationship between the two companies to more than 1.3 GW across four Texas projects. The expansion includes ENGIE's new 600 MW Swenson Ranch Solar project in Stonewall County, southeast of Lubbock, Texas.
Meta will contract 100% of the output from the Swenson Ranch Solar project to support its data center operations in the United States. The project represents the single largest asset in ENGIE's more than 11 GW operating and in construction portfolio, consisting of solar, wind, and battery storage assets in North America.
Project Details and Timeline
The Swenson Ranch Solar project is expected to be operational in 2027. The facility will generate 600 MW of solar energy capacity, making it ENGIE's largest solar project to date. The project is located in Stonewall County, positioned southeast of Lubbock, Texas.
Meta will purchase 100% of the project's output under the power purchase agreement. This arrangement supports the acceleration of digital infrastructure and enables Meta to continue matching 100% of its electricity use with clean and renewable energy for its data center operations.
Financial Investment and Economic Impact
ENGIE plans to invest USD 900 million in the Swenson Ranch Solar project. The construction phase will employ over 350 skilled workers. Once complete, the project will generate more than USD 158 million in tax revenues for the county and the local hospital district over its life.
The expanded partnership between ENGIE and Meta now encompasses more than 1.3 GW across four Texas projects, representing a significant scale of renewable energy collaboration between the companies.
