Energiequelle GmbH has successfully erected and commissioned nine state-of-the-art Vestas V162 wind turbines at the Zeven wind farm in Lower Saxony, Germany. Despite facing planning delays and challenging conditions, the entire project was completed in just 14 months. The turbines, each with a hub height of 169 meters, will generate approximately 133 million kWh of electricity annually—enough to supply power to around 40,000 households.
Construction was initially delayed by more than six months due to an objection after project approval in February 2023. However, construction officially began in April 2024, with the first turbine operational by early May. The project showcases Energiequelle’s ability to navigate regulatory and logistical complexities while maintaining delivery timelines.
Strong Regional Impact and Future Growth Plans
The Zeven wind farm also brings long-term economic value to the region through lease payments and municipal participation. Eight of the nine turbines were sold to Encavis AG, a major European renewable energy producer, while the ninth is operated by Bürgerwindpark Wistedt GmbH & Co. KG. Energiequelle emphasized transparency and early engagement with local stakeholders throughout the project.
Looking ahead, the company plans further expansion in Lower Saxony, particularly in the Rotenburg district, reinforcing its role as a key contributor to Germany’s renewable energy transformation.
