Elevion Group, through its PV and BESS specialist BELECTRIC, has signed a General Balance of Plant (GBoP) contract for the construction of a large-scale battery energy storage system (BESS) in the municipality of Uckerfelde in the German state of Brandenburg.
Landmark Storage Project Signed
The project, known as Bertikow, will deliver an output of 200 megawatts (MW) and a storage capacity of approximately 840 megawatt-hours (MWh), ranking it among the largest BESS in Germany.
BELECTRIC will serve as the GBoP partner for ENERTRAG SE and Enlight Renewable Energy, delivering the project's civil and electrical infrastructure up to the 33 kV medium-voltage level.
The company's scope includes on-site interface management, road and earthworks, foundations, cabling, archaeological monitoring, and environmental mitigation measures.
Technology and Market Role
The standalone battery energy storage system will utilise proven lithium iron phosphate (LFP) technology, which is widely recognised for its long service life and high efficiency. Once commissioned, the facility will participate in Germany's energy and ancillary services markets, providing flexibility to help balance electricity supply and demand.
According to the companies, the project will help stabilise the regional power grid, enhance security of supply, and facilitate the continued integration of renewable energy sources into Germany's energy system.

Construction Underway
Initial construction activities have already commenced on site. The official groundbreaking ceremony took place at the project site on October 13th, 2026, with representatives of Enlight, ENERTRAG, and BELECTRIC in attendance.
Among those present at the ceremony were Kai Klingenhagen, Shahab Valamanesh, Esther Jantosch, and Philipp Roos of BELECTRIC; Simon Imhoff and Jan-Philipp Schrapp of ENERTRAG; Ran Fux of Enlight; and Chris Globert of Worley.
The project is expected to be commissioned in the first half of 2028.
Executive Statements
Jaroslav Macek, CEO of Elevion Group, said that as Europe's energy systems grow increasingly renewable, flexibility and resilience are becoming just as important as generation capacity. He stated that by supporting the construction of project Bertikow, Elevion Group succeeds in addressing both challenges.
Dr Thorsten Blanke, CEO of BELECTRIC, member of Elevion Group, added that with Bertikow the company is delivering one of Germany's most significant battery storage projects as a GBoP partner.
He said that, as one of the largest BESS in the country, the project demonstrates that battery systems can play a vital role in strengthening grid resilience and ensuring a secure energy supply in the renewable energy era.
Marko Liposcak, General Manager, Enlight Europe at Enlight Renewable Energy, noted that as renewable energy expands across Europe, large-scale storage is becoming essential to grid flexibility and reliability. He said Bertikow will help meet these needs while further strengthening Enlight's presence in the European energy storage market.
