EdgeConneX has announced the acquisition of its second data center site in the Greater Osaka and Yawata areas of Japan, bringing its total data center platform capacity to 350MW of utility power. The second site will provide an additional 150MW upon completion, adding to the previously announced 200MW in Japan.

Rapid Market Expansion

The expansion milestone follows EdgeConneX's announcement in January 2025 of its first project in Japan, a 200MW facility scheduled to begin construction in early 2026 and expected to open its first phase by the fourth quarter of 2027. Within just over six months since its market entry in January 2025, EdgeConneX now boasts a combined campus capacity of 350MW, spread across two advanced data center projects.

Both sites are strategically positioned to meet the surging demand for Cloud and high-density AI infrastructure in one of the fastest-growing digital markets in Asia. Upon completion, EdgeConneX will be one of the largest data centers in the Kansai area, further solidifying Osaka's position as a hub for cutting-edge IT infrastructure, in line with the country's vision for a Digital Garden City Nation.

Partnership with Keihan Real Estate

A ceremony was held on August 7th with landowner Keihan Real Estate, an integrated developer built upon the foundation of Keihan's 100+ year history in the railway business.
