Canadian Solar Inc. announced on October 29, 2025, that e-STORAGE, a majority-owned subsidiary of the company, CSI Solar Co., Ltd., has successfully achieved commercial operation of the 220 MWh DC Mannum Battery Energy Storage Project in South Australia. The project is owned by Epic Energy and was developed by Recurrent Energy, a subsidiary of Canadian Solar.

Project Development and Construction

e-STORAGE served as the Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) provider for the Mannum project. The company partnered with Consolidated Power Projects (CPP) as the Balance of Plant contractor to complete the development. The project's success was driven by e-STORAGE's experienced local team working in collaboration with these partners.

The project utilizes e-STORAGE's proprietary SolBank technology, which is designed to ensure safe, reliable, and high-performance operation. Under a long-term service agreement, e-STORAGE will support the project's ongoing performance and operational management, demonstrating its commitment to long-term value creation.

Site Configuration and Grid Impact

The Mannum Battery Energy Storage System Project is situated alongside 46 MWp of solar farm capacity, which Epic Energy also owns at the Mannum site. This configuration creates an integrated renewable energy facility that combines solar generation with battery storage capabilities.

The project represents a significant milestone in strengthening South Australia's grid stability. According to the announcement, the facility will make a significant contribution to South Australia's target of achieving 100% renewable electricity generation by 2027.
