Dallas-based DataBank has acquired the building that houses its MSP2 data center in the greater Minneapolis–St. Paul metro area, converting a previously leased facility at 3255 Neil Armstrong Blvd in Eagan, MN, into an owned asset.

The company announced the purchase on Oct. 1, 2026, saying the move advances its strategy of owning and controlling the real estate beneath its facilities. MSP2 had previously operated out of a leased building.

Strategic Shift Toward Ownership

According to DataBank, the acquisition underscores its strategic commitment to converting leased facilities into owned assets. The company said ownership enables greater operational control, long-term investment in infrastructure, and assurance for the enterprise and institutional clients who rely on MSP2's services.

"This acquisition marks another milestone in our broader strategy to own and control the real estate supporting our data center footprint," said Raul K. Martynek, CEO of DataBank. "Ownership allows us to control our destiny, ensuring we can continue to invest in and evolve our facilities in step with our customers' growing infrastructure needs."

MSP2's Role in the Minneapolis Market

DataBank described MSP2 as a critical digital infrastructure node that serves as a second major carrier hotel in the Minneapolis market. By owning the building, the company said, it strengthens its ability to support mission-critical workloads with the stability, scalability, and interconnectivity customers demand.

The Minneapolis market, DataBank noted, continues to be a vital hub for enterprise IT, scientific research, healthcare, and financial services. To meet the area's compute resource needs, the company operates four Minneapolis data centers strategically located to offer geographic diversity, including its Brooklyn Park campus, which features land for a fifth data center.
