Citicore Renewable Energy Corporation (CREC) has announced plans to develop an 80-megawatt (MW) wind power project in Pangasinan, through its wind energy subsidiary, Citicore Wind Energy Corporation. The project, to be executed by Citicore Wind Pangasinan 2 Inc., represents a major investment in the country’s renewable energy infrastructure.

The wind facility, with an estimated cost of USD 170.48 million (PHP 9.6 billion), is expected to be completed by the first quarter of 2028. The project cost estimate is based on an exchange rate of PHP 56.31 to the U.S. dollar.

Once operational, the 80 MW plant is anticipated to contribute to the Philippines’ renewable energy goals by adding clean power to the national grid. It also reflects the country’s growing focus on diversifying its energy sources amid increasing electricity demand and global decarbonization efforts.

Investment in Renewable Energy

The planned development highlights CREC’s continued commitment to expanding its clean energy portfolio. This project is part of the broader strategy to increase renewable energy generation across the Philippines, where wind and solar remain key components of the government’s energy transition plans.

The substantial investment underscores the confidence of private sector stakeholders in the country’s renewable energy potential. It also positions Citicore Wind Energy Corporation as a central player in the wind energy space, building on the parent company’s broader sustainability objectives.

Construction activities and site preparations are expected to ramp up ahead of the targeted 2028 completion, contributing to local employment and infrastructure development in the Pangasinan region.
