bp Awards Multi-Million Pound Andrew Field Decommissioning Contract to THREE60 Energy and AF Gruppen Joint Venture
A new joint venture between THREE60 Energy and AF Offshore Decom, a subsidiary of AF Gruppen, has been awarded a multi-million-pound contract by bp to provide integrated decommissioning services for their Andrew field in the North Sea. The contract represents a first-of-its-kind in the UK Continental Shelf, with the joint venture assuming the role of decommissioning services partner.
Contract Scope and Delivery Model
The joint venture will deliver comprehensive post cessation of production operations, well decommissioning, facilities, pipelines, and topsides preparation, substructure and topsides disposal, and subsea infrastructure removal. The partnership will also work alongside the topsides removal contractor to ensure successful unified delivery of the full decommissioning scope.
The contract, subject to regulatory approvals, will be delivered in several phases. The initial phase includes well planning, plug and abandonment preparation scopes, platform readiness, and transition planning activities. Within the joint venture structure, THREE60 will combine its responsibility and capability as Installation, Pipeline, and Well operator with AF Offshore Decom's experience and track record in engineering, procurement, removal, and disposal preparation, management, and disposal services.

The Andrew area includes 17 platform wells, 8 subsea wells, 41 kilometers of subsea bundles, 42 kilometers of umbilicals, and 2,500 tonnes of subsea equipment that will require decommissioning as part of the project scope.
