Berde Renewables, a Philippine-based renewable energy developer backed by global infrastructure investor I Squared Capital, has entered into a three-year supply partnership with Sungrow Power and its authorized regional distributor Solar Hive, targeting 200 megawatts of solar inverters and 500 megawatt-hours of battery energy storage systems across the Philippines and Thailand.

The agreement, announced in Manila on July 7, 2026, centers on a Master Framework Agreement under which Berde will procure the equipment for deployment across both markets.

The deal brings together three organizations spanning development, manufacturing, and regional distribution, with each party taking on a defined role in moving projects from contract signing through to commissioning.

What the Agreement Covers

At its core, the Master Framework Agreement gives Berde Renewables priority access to Sungrow's factory-new equipment through a streamlined regional supply chain. Under the terms, Berde will tap Sungrow's range of inverters, battery energy storage systems, electric vehicle charging infrastructure, and smart energy management technologies.

Solar Hive, operating as Sungrow's authorized regional distributor, will handle logistics, spare parts inventory, technical support, and after-sales service across both the Philippines and Thailand.

The three parties will also collaborate on technical training and certification programs, joint market development, and stakeholder engagement. The agreement additionally opens the door to potential co-investment and vendor financing arrangements for selected projects, though no specific financing structures were detailed in the announcement.

Scale of the Battery Storage Commitment

While the 200 megawatts of solar inverter procurement extends Berde's existing commercial and industrial solar business, the 500 megawatt-hours of battery storage represents what the company describes as a meaningful milestone, particularly for the Philippine market. Patrick Zhu, Chief Executive Officer of Berde Renewables, characterized the storage component as a major step forward for the business.

"The combination of 200MW of solar and 500 MWh of battery storage is a major step forward for our business and a meaningful milestone, especially for battery storage in the Philippines as demand grows for more flexible and resilient energy solutions," Zhu said.

The battery storage capacity is intended to enable Berde to offer customers not only cost reductions but also grid stability services and the ability to shift daytime solar generation into evening hours. This load-shifting capability is increasingly relevant in the Philippines, where the grid requires greater flexibility as renewable energy penetration grows.

Roles of Each Partner

Sungrow Power Supply Co., Ltd., headquartered in China, reports cumulative global installations exceeding 1,000 gigawatts of power electronic converters worldwide.

The company describes itself as a global leader in solar photovoltaic inverters, battery energy storage systems, and smart energy management. Michael Ruan, Sungrow's Regional Director for Southeast Asia, said the company is confident it can help Berde accelerate deployment of high-performance clean energy across the region.

Solar Hive Pte. Ltd. operates warehousing and distribution infrastructure in Singapore, the Philippines, Thailand, and other Southeast Asian markets. David Zhang, Head of Sales and Business Development at Solar Hive, framed the 200-megawatt and 500-megawatt-hour commitment as a foundation for broader regional expansion. "We hope this 200 MW / 500 MWh milestone serves as a springboard for expanding our collaboration across other parts of Southeast Asia," Zhang said.

Berde Renewables operates three core business lines: behind-the-meter commercial and industrial solar, embedded generation for electric cooperatives, and the acquisition and development of clean energy projects.

The company is a portfolio company of I Squared Capital, a global infrastructure investment firm founded in 2012 that manages more than 60 billion US dollars in assets. I Squared Capital's investment focus spans power and utilities, transport, digital infrastructure, environmental systems, and social infrastructure.

Delivery Model for Customers

Berde operates under a Power Purchase Agreement model in which it finances, builds, owns, and operates solar assets on behalf of its customers throughout the duration of the contract.

Ownership of the assets transfers to the customer at the end of the agreement period. This structure means business customers can access solar and storage infrastructure without upfront capital expenditure.

The partnership is designed to shorten the timeline between contract execution and project commissioning by giving Berde priority access to equipment and a more direct regional supply chain through Solar Hive's existing logistics network.

Regional Significance

The announcement reflects growing momentum in Southeast Asian clean energy markets, where both corporate demand for cost-effective electricity and grid operators' need for storage-backed stability are accelerating procurement timelines.

Berde's simultaneous focus on the Philippines and Thailand through a single supply framework suggests the company is pursuing coordinated regional scaling rather than managing each country independently.

The signing ceremony, held in Manila, brought together senior representatives from all three organizations. Pictured at the signing were David Zhang of Solar Hive; Morris Zhou and Patrick Zhu, Co-Founders and Co-CEOs of Berde Renewables; Michael Ruan, Regional Director for Southeast Asia at Sungrow Power; Tia Qin, Country Head of Sungrow Philippines; and Eason Liang, Account Manager of Sungrow Philippines.
