BDx Data Centers has broken ground on a major artificial intelligence data center campus in Jatiluhur, West Java, Indonesia, marking a significant expansion of high-density computing infrastructure across Southeast Asia. The facility, designated AI Campus 2 or CGK4, will deliver 640 megawatts of IT capacity at full build-out and is backed by 845 megavolt-amperes of grid capacity secured from Indonesia's state utility PLN.

The groundbreaking ceremony was attended by Dedi Mulyadi, Governor of West Java, and Saepul Bahri Binzein, Regent of Purwakarta, alongside BDx and BDx Indonesia leadership.

A Campus Built for High-Density AI Workloads

CGK4 is designed from the ground up to accommodate the demands of next-generation artificial intelligence computing. The facility will use a direct-to-chip liquid-cooling architecture engineered to support up to 500 kilowatts per rack, a specification intended to handle current and future generations of AI accelerator hardware.

Construction is underway on Building 1, the first of six planned buildings at the site. That initial building will deliver 120 megawatts of IT capacity in phases, with the first contracted phase expected to enter service in early 2027.

The remaining campus is expected to be developed over approximately three years, with buildings commissioned sequentially to meet accelerating demand for high-density AI capacity.

CGK4 achieved certification under the NVIDIA DGX-Ready Colocation Data Center program in April 2025, ahead of its groundbreaking. The campus is located approximately five kilometers from the Jatiluhur Dam and will receive power through PLN under Indonesia's national grid framework.

Pursuing Lower-Carbon Energy Pathways

Beyond its grid connection with PLN, BDx said the campus is actively pursuing lower-carbon power arrangements, including a hydroelectric power arrangement with PJT, the state-owned river basin authority associated with the Jatiluhur reservoir.

The company described this as part of an effort to support the region's growing artificial intelligence infrastructure with cleaner, more sustainable energy, though no specific timeline or capacity figures for the hydroelectric arrangement were disclosed.

Part of a Broader Indonesia Power Position

CGK4 forms one component of a larger infrastructure build-out BDx is executing across Indonesia. The company said it holds more than 1.2 gigavolt-amperes of secured grid capacity across its AI-ready campuses in the country. Its Indonesia platform includes AI Campus 1, designated CGK3 and CGK3A, AI Campus 2 or CGK4, and AI Campus 3 or CGK5.

The 845 megavolt-amperes secured for CGK4 alone represents a substantial portion of that broader commitment and is part of a strategic partnership BDx has described as Indonesia's largest data center power commitment at 1.2 gigawatts.

The campus development is being supported financially by a US$320 million loan facility that BDx secured in 2026. The company did not disclose the lenders involved in that facility.

Hyperscalers and Global Technology Companies Among Prospective Tenants

BDx said CGK4 is already attracting strong interest from multiple hyperscalers, as well as global technology companies, AI-native cloud providers, and enterprises seeking AI-ready capacity across Southeast Asia and beyond. The company did not name any specific customers or disclose the status of any signed agreements beyond the first contracted phase of Building 1.

Mayank Srivastava, Chief Executive Officer of BDx Data Centers, described the project as a long-term investment in the infrastructure required for Indonesia's next phase of digital and AI development.

"It anchors a growing AI ecosystem in West Java: scalable, high-density capacity built to bring advanced AI workloads into production faster, with a reliable path for customers as demand grows," Srivastava said.

Indonesia's Combination of Land, Grid Capacity, and Demand

BDx characterized Indonesia as one of the few Asia-Pacific markets that combines available grid capacity, campus-scale land, and strong domestic AI demand. The company also cited Special Economic Zone incentives for large-scale infrastructure investment as a factor in its decision to concentrate its regional expansion there.

Agus Hartono Wijaya, Chief Executive Officer of BDx Indonesia, framed the project in terms of domestic sovereign infrastructure capacity. "We are putting sovereign, high-density AI infrastructure in place with our national partners. It allows local enterprises, government agencies, and developers to run advanced AI workloads domestically while creating skilled jobs and long-term value in West Java," Wijaya said.
