Amazon Web Services (AWS) has signed a strategic framework agreement with the Telangana Government to drive a massive expansion of its cloud data center infrastructure in Hyderabad, backed by a USD 7 billion investment commitment over the next 14 years. The agreement was finalized during the recently concluded "Telangana Rising" global summit in Mucherla, on the outskirts of Hyderabad.

Investment Framework and Government Support

Under this framework, the state government will offer a comprehensive package of facilitation measures, infrastructure support, and ease-of-doing-business initiatives to help AWS rapidly scale its data center footprint across Hyderabad. The agreement represents one of the flagship global announcements from the Telangana Rising Summit.

State IT and Industries Secretary Sanjay Kumar said the framework reflects Telangana's readiness to support hyperscale digital infrastructure. "Our focus is on ensuring seamless access to land, power, connectivity, and policy enablement so that global leaders like AWS can scale rapidly and sustainably. The AWS expansion is a cornerstone of our broader digital and AI infrastructure goals under Telangana Rising 2047," he said.

Strategic Role in India's Digital Infrastructure

With this latest investment, the Hyderabad AWS Region is expected to play a pivotal role in powering cloud services, artificial intelligence (AI), start-ups, enterprises, and government platforms across India. AWS already operates its largest campus globally in Hyderabad.

AWS India and South Asia President Sandeep Dutta said the agreement underscores AWS's continued commitment to India's digital transformation. "We look forward to contributing to Telangana's vision of becoming a global technology hub by creating employment opportunities, supporting local businesses, and enabling a skilled workforce that will drive India's digital economy forward," Dutta said.

Alignment with Telangana's Economic Vision

Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy hailed the agreement as a strong endorsement of Telangana's governance and long-term economic vision. "We are delighted by the extraordinary confidence shown by global leaders like Amazon in Telangana. The scale of this commitment reflects the trust investors now place in our governance, stability, and long-term vision to propel Telangana towards its USD 3 trillion economy goal. This is Telangana Rising 2047 in action," Revanth Reddy said.

Kumar added that the AWS agreement aligns with the state's ambition to build a USD 3 trillion economy by 2047 by making AI, cloud computing, and digital innovation central growth engines over the next two decades. The agreement was announced at the Telangana Rising global summit and was updated on December 12, 2025.
