Yinson Production's Agogo Floating Production Storage and Offloading (FPSO) vessel made a scheduled technical stop at Walvis Bay, Namibia, on 8 May 2025, en route to Angola's Block 15/06. This stopover facilitated essential store replenishment and crew changes, marking a significant milestone in the vessel's deployment for the Agogo Integrated West Hub Development Project.
The Agogo FPSO is set to operate under a 15-year firm charter, with an option for an additional five years, totaling a contract value of up to approximately USD 5.3 billion. Once operational, the FPSO is expected to increase production in Block 15/06 by 120,000 barrels of oil per day. The project aims to enhance Angola's oil production capacity, focusing on innovation and sustainability. Critical components of the project were manufactured in Angolan shipyards, demonstrating a commitment to strengthening local industry and promoting self-sufficiency.
The Agogo FPSO incorporates pioneering carbon-reduction technologies, including the world's first pilot post-combustion carbon capture system on an FPSO. These technologies are expected to reduce carbon emissions by up to 27%, aligning with Yinson Production's goal of achieving carbon neutrality by 2030 and net-zero emissions by 2050.
The successful technical stop at Walvis Bay signifies a crucial step toward the Agogo FPSO's deployment in Angola. With its advanced technology and commitment to sustainability, the Agogo FPSO is poised to play a significant role in the development of Angola's oil and gas industry, contributing to the region's energy security and economic growth.
