Aer Soléir announced on January 12, 2026, that it has completed financing for its flagship battery storage project, Rondissone. The 250 MW facility with a four-hour duration represents the largest battery energy storage system (BESS) under construction in Italy, with a total project cost of approximately EUR 180 million.

Project Location and Specifications

The Rondissone project is located in Piedmont, which is part of the Italy Nord Power Zone. The facility operates as a 250 MW battery energy storage system with four-hour duration capabilities, making it the largest BESS project currently under construction in the Italian market.

Financing Structure and Banking Consortium

Centrus served as the project's debt and hedging advisor, structuring the transaction with senior debt facilities that provide up to 80% of the capital expenditure on a long-term, 15-year amortization profile. The financing represents a first-of-its-kind financing deal for a BESS asset in the Italian market.

A consortium of leading banks provided the financing, including Bayern LB, Nord/LB, CIBC, Siemens Financial Services through Siemens Bank, and ABN AMRO. The transaction marks a significant milestone in Italian energy storage project financing.

Revenue Contracts and Market Agreements

The Rondissone project secured a 15-year Capacity Market Contract with the Italian Government in the first quarter of 2025. Additionally, the project entered into a 7-year fixed toll agreement with EGO Energy in the third quarter of 2025, providing revenue stability for the facility's operations.
