Adani Energy Solutions Limited (AESL) has secured an INR 16.6 billion (USD 194.2m) interstate transmission project in Maharashtra, India. The project is managed by the newly transferred special-purpose vehicle WRNES Talegaon Power Transmission. It is designed to facilitate the evacuation of 1.5GW of renewable energy from forthcoming hydro pumped storage projects in Raigad, Maharashtra, to Mumbai and its neighbouring regions.

Project Details

The project includes the installation of 3,000 megavolt-amperes (MVA) of substations capacity and other related transmission infrastructure. It will expand AESL's overall transmission network to 26,696 circuit kilometres (ckm) and 93,236 MVA of transformation capacity. The project will be commissioned by January 2028.

Transmission Order Book

AESL's transmission order book currently stands at INR 616 billion. The company secured the interstate transmission system (ISTS) project through the tariff-based competitive bidding (TBCB) process, with REC Power Development and Consultancy (RECPDCL) coordinating the bid process.

Company Overview

Operating under the diversified Adani portfolio, AESL is active in power transmission, distribution, smart metering, and cooling solutions. In the retail electricity distribution sector, AESL serves 13 million consumers in metropolitan Mumbai and the industrial hub of Mundra SEZ. The company has also won an INR 28 billion power transmission project in Gujarat, which aims to bolster the production of green hydrogen and green ammonia in Mundra and will be completed by 2028. It involves reforms to the Navinal (Mundra) electrical substation, including the installation of two large 765/400kV transformers. Further, a 75 km long 765 kV double-circuit line will connect the substation to the Bhuj Substation.

The project is a remarkable development for AESL, expanding its transmission network and reinforcing its commitment to Renewable Energy. With a strong transmission order book and ongoing projects, AESL is poised for continued growth in the energy sector, and the company's efforts are expected to contribute to India's Renewable Energy Goals.
