Serbia Wind Power Plant Industry Analysis
The wind power industry in Serbia has experienced modest growth in recent years, as the country looks to diversify its energy mix and reduce its reliance on fossil fuels. Serbia has set ambitious renewable energy targets, with a goal of generating 27% of its electricity from renewable sources by 2020 and 35% by 2030. To achieve these goals, the government has been supporting the development of wind power projects across the country.
There are currently over 300 wind turbines operating in Serbia, with a combined capacity of around 700 MW. The majority of these turbines are located in the northern and western parts of the country, in regions such as Vojvodina and Banat. The largest operational wind farm in Serbia is the Kova?ica Wind Farm, which is located in the Vojvodina region and consists of 61 turbines with a combined capacity of 122 MW.
In addition to these operational wind farms, there are several other wind power projects in various stages of development across Serbia. The most advanced of these is the Subotica Wind Farm, which is currently in the construction phase. This project consists of 50 turbines with a combined capacity of 100 MW and is expected to generate enough electricity to power around 70,000 homes.
Overall, the wind power industry in Serbia is making progress towards meeting the government's renewable energy targets. While there are challenges to overcome, such as the need to secure funding and navigate the planning process, the potential for wind power to contribute to the country's energy mix is significant. With the continued development of wind power projects, Serbia is well on its way to becoming a leader in renewable energy.
