Microsoft and Brookfield Joint Venture to Develop 10.5 GW Renewable Energy Projects

Brookfield Asset Management and Microsoft  partnership plans to develop renewable projects with an overall capacity of 10.5 GW. The collaboration is part of Microsoft's broader strategy to power its data centers with renewable energy. The company expects the partnership with Brookfield to help finance the development of renewable power projects in US and Europe. Furthermore, the projects are slated to be built between 2026 and 2030.

 

 

The deal underscores the race to meet clean energy commitments while satisfying the voracious energy demands of cloud computing and artificial intelligence. The 10.5 gigawatts of new capacity would cost more than USD 10 billion, based on recent industry trends. The agreement provides a pathway for Brookfield to deliver the new renewable energy capacity between 2026 and 2030 in the U.S. and Europe.
