TotalEnergies and RGE have partnered in a solar and battery project in Indonesia, which has been awarded a conditional licence by Singapore's Energy Market Authority to import 1 GW of Clean Firm Power to Singapore. The project will also supply electricity to local industry in Indonesia. This development was announced on May 30, 2025, with the partners signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Singapore Energy Interconnections to jointly develop a subsea interconnector.

Project Details

The project involves the development of a hybrid renewable power plant comprising a solar farm, Battery Energy Storage System (BESS), and a subsea cable in Riau Province, Indonesia. TotalEnergies and RGE signed a Co-Investment Agreement to develop, build, and operate this plant during an official ceremony in Jakarta on May 28, 2025. The ceremony was attended by French President Emmanuel Macron and Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto.

Company Statements

Helle Kristoffersen, President Asia and Executive Committee Member at TotalEnergies, expressed gratitude to the Singapore authorities for granting the necessary licences for the project. Imelda Tanoto, Managing Director at RGE, stated that the Conditional Licence is a key milestone that affirms their role in advancing the region's collaboration and decarbonization goals.

Renewable Energy Portfolio

TotalEnergies is building a competitive portfolio that combines renewables and flexible assets to deliver clean firm power to its customers. As of the end of March 2025, TotalEnergies has 28 GW of installed gross renewable electricity generation capacity and aims to reach 35 GW by the end of 2025. Further, it aims to reach more than 100 TeraWatt hours (TWh) of net electricity production by 2030.

The company's commitment to renewable energy is part of its strategy to provide sustainable energy solutions. With this project, TotalEnergies and RGE are making significant strides in promoting clean energy and reducing carbon emissions in the region, ultimately contributing to a more sustainable future.
