ScottishPower Renewables Unveils $10.72 Million Lowestoft Operations Base Design for East Anglia THREE Offshore Windfarm
ScottishPower Renewables has revealed the initial design for its new USD 10.72 million East Anglia THREE offshore windfarm base in Lowestoft's PowerPark. The new-build 5000m² facility will be developed on Trinity Road on the site previously occupied by RJ Pryce.
The site was acquired by ScottishPower Renewables in September 2024 and will become home to a new purpose-built operations and maintenance facility, subject to the determination of the planning application submitted to East Suffolk Council.
Facility Design and Specifications
The building design shows that it will comprise three stories, with a similar look and feel to the company's operations and maintenance base for its East Anglia (EA) ONE offshore wind farm.
The Trinity Road development, which will be wholly-owned by ScottishPower Renewables, is expected to have capacity for around 100 people, creating additional employment opportunities for the town and local area.

Existing Operations Infrastructure
ScottishPower Renewables currently operates an existing facility located nearby on land owned by Associated British Ports at Lowestoft port. This operations and maintenance base for the East Anglia ONE offshore windfarm opened in 2019 and will continue to operate on its existing 30-year lease.

Project Development Timeline
The new facility development comes as the East Anglia THREE windfarm starts to take shape in the southern North Sea. Matt Wooltorton, Project Construction Manager with ScottishPower Renewables, said: "It's really exciting to see the new building brought to life in these initial designs. As our East Anglia THREE windfarm starts to take shape in the southern North Sea, I look forward to seeing the same for our onshore base as we continue to work towards a cleaner and greener future for Lowestoft and the wider East Anglia region."
Regional Investment and Strategic Vision
Steve Hodger, ScottishPower Renewables Head of Offshore Operations and Maintenance, added: "This project will increase our footprint and investment within Lowestoft's PowerPark and support the Council's vision for the town as a powerhouse for the clean energy industry in the region for years to come."
The development represents a significant expansion of ScottishPower Renewables' presence in the Lowestoft area, building upon their existing operations while establishing a dedicated facility for the East Anglia THREE project. The planning application for the Trinity Road facility has been submitted to East Suffolk Council for determination.
