California-based Octillion has completed a facility-wide conversion to solar energy at one of its three battery system manufacturing factories in India, establishing the first of the company's facilities to operate on 100% carbon-free power. The achievement marks a significant milestone in the company's sustainability initiative for its electric vehicle battery manufacturing operations.

Facility Specifications and Solar Capacity

The Pune, India, facility spans approximately 8,200 square meters, roughly the size of two football pitches, and manufactures next-generation battery systems for electric vehicles of all types for the Indian automotive market. The factory generates 3GWh of total annual battery capacity for India's fast-growing electric vehicle market.

The new rooftop solar installation provides approximately 545 MWh of dedicated clean energy annually, fully covering the facility's entire power requirements and bringing the facility to 100% carbon neutral operations. This solar capacity represents the total annual energy production required to power manufacturing operations entirely with renewable energy.

Implementation Timeline and Process

The Pune facility was inaugurated in June 2023 and began its solar conversion process in June 2024. The facility achieved full operational solar status by July 2025, completing the entire conversion in just 13 months.
