NTPC-REL a subsidiary of National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) is planning to install 1.5 GW of renewable capacity this year by investing around USD 1 billion. “ Our target is to do 1.5 GW of renewable energy this year, the capex amount of INR 10,000 crores includes ongoing under-construction projects, and also pipeline projects for next year,” The chief executive officer of NTPC said.
The capital expenditure is mainly at the level of NTPC Renewables, not just NTPC REL. NTPC renewables will use a significant capacity for solar energy while the rest will be used for wind energy projects. NTPC REL currently has a 20 GW renewable energy project pipeline. Out of this 3.3 GW is already operational, over 7 GW is under construction and they expect to place orders for the remaining 10 GW within the next 10-12 months. By 2026, they aim to have a significant portion of the capacity to be operational.

Their portfolio consists of Solar, Floating solar, wind, Offshore Wind, Renewable energy parks etc. They commissioned projects like the Bhadla Solar PV project (260 MW), Mandsaur Solar PV project (250 MW), Ananthapuram Solar PV project (250 MW), and many other projects across the country.
