BW Offshore has officially handed over the operations and maintenance responsibilities of the BW Adolo floating production, storage, and offloading (FPSO) vessel to BW Energy. The transition, confirmed on May 20, 2025, is part of the broader Dussafu Marin oil production project located offshore Gabon.

The FPSO BW Adolo plays a central role in the extraction and processing of hydrocarbons in the Dussafu Marin block. With the operational transfer now complete, BW Energy will take full control of day-to-day activities onboard the vessel.

Strengthening Local Operational Control

The move marks a significant milestone for BW Energy, a company that also holds a leading stake in the Dussafu Marin field. By assuming full operational responsibilities for the FPSO, BW Energy consolidates its position in managing offshore production assets in the region.

The BW Adolo is engineered to support long-term offshore production with onboard capabilities for processing, storing, and offloading crude oil. The vessel’s role is considered critical for sustaining output and logistical efficiency in Gabon's offshore energy sector.

Continuity in Offshore Production

The transition is expected to ensure continued stable operations in the Dussafu Marin block. Neither company disclosed financial terms related to the handover, but the move is in line with BW Energy’s strategy to increase operational control of its upstream assets.

BW Offshore had been operating the vessel since its deployment, while BW Energy has gradually expanded its footprint in the field’s development.
